Rickey Phillips, 62, of Gainesville passed away Tuesday October 19, 2021 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born March 7, 1959, Rickey was a native of Pickens County and had lived in Gainesville for the past 8 years having moved from Dawsonville. A U. S. Army veteran, he was formerly employed as a driver for CDS Trucking and enjoyed fishing, camping and being in the mountains. A member of Antioch Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by is mother, June Young; father, Carol Phillips; sister, Joan Phillips; and a brother, Kevin Phillips.
Surviving are his children, Kristi and Kevin Sheriff, Dawsonville, Scotty and Christie Phillips, Atlanta; grandchildren, Savannah Sheriff, Noah Sheriff; brothers, Danny Phillips, Lexington, KY, Dwight Phillips, Gainesville; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Gaines will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 until 8 at the funeral home.
