Obituary for Eric Rivers

Eric Rivers, 53, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Northside Hospital Forsyth following a sudden illness.

Eric was born October 27, 1967 in Vermont, where he lived for 40 years until moving to Georgia 14 years ago.

Growing up in Vermont, Eric was an avid hockey and baseball player and had a large circle of friends. He was known for his quick wit, friendliness and fun-loving nature. He was a 1985 graduate of Essex High School and a 1989 graduate of Champlain College.

Eric started his own family in Vermont and his children were his greatest pride and joy. He was a very involved and proud father to Colby and Ella. He supported them in every way and never missed a game, cheer event or school function.

In 2007, Eric relocated to Georgia with his family. Most recently, he worked in the electronic recycling industry for almost a decade. His hard work, dedication and commitment showed in his work every day. He was always there for his friends and coworkers and will be greatly missed by them.

Eric was preceded in death by his wife, Jennifer L. Rivers; uncle, Donald Chandler; grandparents, Cliff Sr. and Marjorie Rivers, Vince and Theresa Chandler.

Surviving are his children, Colby and Ella Rivers of Cumming; parents, Chris and Clif Rivers of Essex Junction, Vermont; sister and nephew, Kelli and Jesse Rivers of Vermont; mother of his children, Renee Laden, of Cumming; close friends, Phillip and Stephanie Kennedy, of Milton; and a multitude of friends.

A memorial visitation will beheld Monday October 25, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville, Georgia. A memorial service in Vermont will be planned for July 2022.
